In the summer 2004 I attended a residency at the Center for Polish Sculpture and was invited back the following year to make a work for their sculpture grounds titled, Island. I created a temporary site-specific piece for an area of the park that was surrounded by a swamp. My intention was to create a piece contrasting the landscape and history of the original site. The town and what is now the Sculpture Center, had been occupied by the Nazi’s during WWII. Island incorporates aspects of the light, colors and island formations found in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas.
